The President’s Organizing for Action (OFA) committee has been embarrassed by lack of interest by libs, greens and NGOs in the OFA’s “Action August” events. In early August, the OFA had a Virginia kick off meeting touting Obamacare and only one person showed up and at last week’s DC kick off meeting supporting the Obama climate change agenda, no one showed up.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) blog posted some thoughts on these failures by saying:
“ ………… it should surprise nobody – including the, ah, enthusiasts over at OfA, bless their hearts – that global warming doesn’t have nearly the same bite to it that the Left desperately wants it to. The polling is consistent: global warming – or climate change, or whatever the latest buzzword is/will be – is at the bottom of any list of things that people worry about, or prioritize. It is thus unsurprising that an admittedly unpleasant sudden rain shower would stop people in Georgetown from attending: after all, OfA doesn’t really want to talk about global warming at all. It’s just that the two things that they should be talking about – the economy, and health care – are also two things that OfA does not dare talk about, largely because President Barack Obama clearly has no idea how to go about repairing the damage that he’s caused to either.
NRCC is correct about the lack of interest by the public in global warming. But don’t get too comfortable about the poll results. President Obama’s EPA is underway writing regulations that will effectively mandate Cap and Trade. Other EPA regulations are dismantling the coal industry. Cap and Trade failed to pass in the Congress in Obama’s first term when the Democrats held majorities in both houses of Congress and yet it is being enacted. Who needs Congress or the citizen’s approval when he can do all of this under the radar.
Here is my suggestion for the NRCC——Do something about getting back your Constitutional authority that Obama taken away from you (with hardly a whimper of protest on your part.)
